DHRM and HDHRM Off-Campus Workshop Successfully Held in Dambulla

The Department of Human Resources Management, Faculty of Management & Finance, University of Colombo, successfully conducted the off-campus workshop for students of the Diploma in Human Resource Management (DHRM) and Higher Diploma in Human Resource Management (HDHRM) on 17–18 October 2026 at Aliya Resort & Spa, Dambulla.

The two-day programme provided students with opportunities to gain practical insights into organisational operations and human resource management practices while engaging in activities that encouraged personal development, social interaction, and experiential learning.

The first day commenced with an industry visit to Brandix Apparel Limited, Meerigama, where students gained first-hand exposure to a real business environment and learned about organisational operations and human resource management practices through a guest session. The Department extends its sincere appreciation to Mr. Ranjith Ranaweera, Senior Manager – Human Resources & Administration, and his team for facilitating the visit and providing students with a valuable learning experience.

The programme continued with a hike through the Sigiriya forest, allowing students to explore Sri Lanka’s rich cultural heritage while enjoying the natural environment and engaging in physical activity. The day concluded with an evening entertainment programme that provided students with an opportunity to showcase their talents and strengthen their relationships with fellow participants.

On the second day, students enjoyed outdoor sports and recreational activities, creating opportunities for relaxation and interaction in an informal setting. The programme concluded with a session on dining etiquette conducted by Mr. Chaminda Kumara, Restaurant & Bar Manager at Aliya Resort & Spa. The session introduced students to the importance of appropriate dining etiquette and professional conduct in social and workplace settings. The Department gratefully acknowledges Mr. Kumara for sharing his knowledge and expertise with the students.

The workshop combined industry exposure, cultural exploration, recreational activities, and practical learning in an engaging environment beyond the traditional classroom. The Department also appreciates the enthusiasm, cooperation, leadership, and sense of responsibility demonstrated by the students throughout the programme, which contributed significantly to its success.

The initiative reflects the Department of Human Resources Management’s commitment to enriching students’ learning experiences by connecting academic knowledge with practical exposure, personal development, and meaningful social interaction.
