The future of Sri Lankan enterprise was on full display at the Faculty of Management and Finance (FMF), University of Colombo (UOC), as it successfully concluded the highly anticipated Product Launch and Demonstration of the Enterprise-Based Project (EBP) 2025 on October 4th, 2025. The EBP is the culmination of a core university course designed to foster a pragmatic entrepreneurial mindset among undergraduates. The event went beyond a simple showcase, evolving into a competitive arena where 60 teams launched diverse products and services, presenting well-researched business plans and live demonstrations to distinguished panels of industry experts, entrepreneurs, and academics.
This year’s projects spanned innovative areas such as sustainable consumer goods, digital solutions, and creative value-addition to local agricultural resources, reflecting the students’ dedication to addressing real-world challenges with commercially sound models. A key highlight was the awards ceremony, which celebrated excellence across multiple facets of business development. Special recognition was given to outstanding projects in several niche categories. These included the awards for the Most Innovative Business, the Best Green Business, the Best Promotion, the Best Demonstration, and the Best Stall. The climax was the award for the Most Ready to Start Business, celebrating the venture closest to immediate market launch.
11:11 Adaptive Clothing – stylish adaptive garments for people with special needs won the Most Ready to Start Business, while the Runner-up was PureVita, a herbal cube made from traditional Sri Lankan ingredients. The Winner of the Most Ready to Start Business was further offered an investment intent of Two (02) Million Sri Lankan Rupees by MiddleWay Ventures, a venture capital firm founded by an FMF alumnus. Both Winner and Runner-up prizes across all categories were powered by Patamar Capital.
The success of EBP 2025 serves as a powerful testament to the FMF’s dedication to developing a generation of young Sri Lankan entrepreneurs, actively contributing skilled, market-ready business leaders to the nation’s corporate and startup sectors.
