DHRM and HDHRM Immersion Journey

The Department of Human Resources Management, University of Colombo, successfully conducted an off-campus workshop, “DHRM and HDHRM Immersion Journey,” for students of the Diploma in Human Resource Management (DHRM) and Higher Diploma in Human Resource Management (HDHRM) on 17th and 18th January 2026 at Amagi Aria-Negombo.

The workshop commenced with an industry visit to the INSEE Cement Plant in Puttalam, providing students with a valuable opportunity to gain first-hand exposure to real-world manufacturing operations. During the visit, students were introduced to the plant’s operational processes and workplace practices, enhancing their understanding of how HR functions operate within a large-scale manufacturing environment.

A key highlight of the visit was an insightful guest lecture delivered by Mr. Thishara Nishshanka, Assistant Manager Human Resources, who shared practical perspectives on human resource management and labour relations practices in the manufacturing industry. The session was highly interactive, followed by a lively question-and-answer segment, where students actively engaged and clarified their doubts based on real industry scenarios.

In the evening, students took part in an entertainment programme, where they enthusiastically showcased their talents, fostering camaraderie, creativity, and a sense of belonging beyond the classroom. On the second day, an aerobics session was conducted and was facilitated by Physical Instructor Mr. Sameera Madusanka, promoting energy, wellness, and team spirit among participants.
