The Faculty of Management and Finance which was established in 1994 is the second largest faculty offering management degree programs and the most sought after Management faculty within the University system in Sri Lanka.
August 31, 2017 will mark yet another remarkable day in the history of the Faculty of Management and Finance of the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. We look forward enthusiastically to laying the foundation stone for the “West-Wing- Building” which would comprise fourteen lecture halls with the capacity of accommodating a considerable number of prospective entrants to the faculty. The Ministry of Higher Education and Highways has allocated Rs. 290 million on the recommendation of the University Grants Commission (UGC) for the construction work of this building. This is the second building to be constructed in the Faculty of Management and Finance after 2015.
The ceremony of laying foundation stone for this new building will be graced by His Grace Most Rev. Dr. Oswald Gomis, the Chancellor of the University of Colombo as the Chief Guest. Other distinguished dignitaries who would witness this momentous occasion include, but not limited to, the Secretary to the Ministry of Higher Education and Highways, the Chairman and the Vice-Chairman of the University Grants Commission, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Colombo, the Dean of the Faculty of Management and Finance and members of the council of the University of Colombo.
The first new building construction project called “East-Wing-Building” which claims the similar capacity as of “West-Wing-Building” was commenced in 2015 has reached its stage of completion. We anticipate commissioning this building in not-too-distant future. The Faculty of Management and Finance has already increased its annual student intake by hundred students in 2017. Our dream is to increase the size of annual student intake.
