Magnate’19
Magnate’19 under theme of ‘Financial Intelligence for Future Magnates’ organized by the students of Department of Finance was held on 02nd August 2019 at the Faculty of Management and Finance, University of Colombo. Vice Chancellor of the University of Colombo, Senior Professor Chandrika N. Wijerathna, graced the occasion as the Chief guest of the event. The Key Note Speaker of the event was Mr. C. J. P. Siriwardana, Deputy Secretary General of National Economic Council of Sri Lanka. Other special invitees were Prof. P.S.M. Gunarathna, Vice Chairman of UGC and Mr. Vajira Wijegunawardana, Director General of Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka.
In connection to Magnate’19 an Inter University Debate Competition and Intra Faculty Quiz Competition were organized to provide a platform for the students to demonstrate their vivid skills and competencies to become future magnates. Department of Finance of University of Colombo won the debate competing with Department of Decision Sciences, Faculty of Business of University of Moratuwa.
