CERTIFICATE COURSE IN HUMAN RESOURCE ANALYTICS 2025
The rationale of the Certificate in Human Resource Analytics (CHRA) is to equip HR professionals, undergraduates, diploma holders and any enthusiasts with essential skills in utilizing data analytics for informed decision-making in human resources. Moreover, this programme serves as an additional qualification for students at the Faculty of Management and Finance. In addition to that it provides participants with a competitive edge in the field of human resources by enhancing their proficiency in data-driven decision-making. More importantly, this programme would function as the bringing programme for the other extension programmes introduced by the Department of Human Resources Management of the faculty.

The prime objective of the CHRA is to equip HR professionals, undergraduates, DHRM/HDHRM diploma holders and any enthusiasts with essential skills in utilizing data analytics for informed decision-making in human resources. As such, upon successful completion of the Certificate in HR Analytics (CHRA) learning partners will be able to;
- Equip undergraduate and postgraduate students in the faculty with essential skills in HR Analytics.
- Serve as an additional qualification for BBA undergraduates and participants in the Diploma in Human Resource Management (DHRM) programme.
- Offer industry professionals the opportunity to obtain a distinguished certificate in HR Analytics from the University of Colombo.
- Provide participants with a competitive edge in the field of human resources by enhancing their proficiency in data-driven decision-making.
- Align with the University of Colombo’s vision of excellence and innovation in education.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
The program is designed to cover specific levels of knowledge in HR Analytics at each level and hence the program is suited to those who want to pursue career in the fields of management/human resource management in both public and private sectors.
Reading for a postgraduate diploma program within any discipline at a state university or higher education institution accepted by the Senate of the University of Colombo
OR
Reading for a degree program in any discipline at a state university or higher education institution accepted by the Senate of the University of Colombo
OR
Passed GCE (Advanced Level) Examination in any stream, or any other equivalent professional qualification acceptable to the Senate with two years of executive-level working experience
OR
Passed GCE (Ordinary Level) Examination in any stream, or any other equivalent professional qualification acceptable to the Senate with four years of executive-level working experience
AND
Sound knowledge of statistics
PROGRAMME STRUCTURE
Programme duration | · The programme duration is 6 months including lectures, continuous assessments, projects, and written examinations. |
Mode of instructions | · Sinhala/English |
Lecture schedule | · This is a weekend programme, and lectures are conducted on Saturdays and Sundays |
Course units | · There are 6 course units to be completed in the CHRA programme. |
Coursework | · This programme has coursework/projects with the inclusion of academic and practical components. No research projects are required to be carried out in the programme.
· The coursework consists of lectures and assignments endorsed by the relevant lecturer in a particular course unit. |
Credit allocation | · The entire programme of CHRA consists of 30 credits. Thus, one course unit is worth 6 credits. |
Attendance | · A minimum of 80% attendance is a prerequisite either for online lectures or onsite lectures.
· The programme coordinator verifies attendance of every lecture conducted throughout the programme. · Learning partners are NOT permitted to sit for examinations if they do not satisfy the minimal attendance requirement. |
Total investment | · Total investment for the course is Rs 50000/=. Learning partners can pay the total course fee in two instalments. |
